As part of our ongoing goal to build a strong bond between fathers and daughters we hold meetings every other Monday throughout the year.
Meetings generally are held from 6:30 -8pm but the time and location vary depending on the dad hosting the meeting.
The meetings are planned well in advance and each father has a date on the calendar of their assigned sponsored meeting. The father responsible for sponsoring a specific meeting generally brings snacks and drinks for the tribe members.
The activity is up to the father to decide. It can be something as simple as an arts and crafts project at a local park, a local venue (mini golf, indoor skydiving, indoor arcade, etc), kickball, soccer or wiffle ball or whatever else the father can come up with!
Tribal campouts are coordinated by the Arapahoe leadership and these will be communicated in advanced to allow for planning. Campouts may just be the Arapahoes or a joint campout with another Seminole Nation Tribe.
What to expect during your first campout
Each campout is different but generally the first thing to expect is the loading and unloading of our Trailer. We are lucky enough to have a trailer with all of our supplies. Upon arriving at the campsite, it is all hands on deck to build our canopy tents and set up our campsite by unloading picnic tables, folding tables, grills, flags, etc.
The Tribal Leaders will have sent out an email with responsibilities for the weekend. Each of us has a specific task to make sure we operate efficiently and ultimately spend as much time with our daughters as possible.
On Sunday morning at a time determined by the
tribal chief, all fathers are expected to assist with the break down and packing of the trailer.
Arapahoe general rule: You do not unpack your things or pack up your things until everything for the tribe has been done. Many hands make light work!
The Seminole Nation will host multiple events throughout the year for all tribes. We encourage everyone to attend all nation events.
